With browned twist sighted barrels each signed 'T.J. MORTIMER. MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY. LONDON' towards the breech (small section missing at breech), case-hardened scroll engraved patent breeches and tangs, the former each with pierced platinum plug, the latter each incorporating a rear-sight, border and scroll engraved bolted detented locks each signed 'T.J. MORTIMER ST. JAMES' ST.' (one detent at fault), well figured walnut half-stocks each with chequered butt (one cracked beneath the lock), scroll engraved mounts including spurred trigger-guards, set triggers, scroll engraved silver pommel-caps, silver fore-end caps, escutcheons and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and original white-metal mounted ramrods, one retaining its worm (the other lacking, refinished throughout), London proof marks and barrelsmith's mark of Thomas Jackson Mortimer; in associated relined and refitted brass-cornered mahogany case with some eccessories including Sykes brass-mounted copper three-way pistol-flask, mainspring-clamp and loading-rod mallet, the exterior with flush-fitting brass carrying handle and circular brass escutcheon
