Lot Essay

'By the busy wells at Wajir, where stories claim that Cleopatra once watered her camels, and where up to two thousand camels can be assembled by midday, a beautiful Somali woman waits her turn at the well, leaning easily against her recumbent camel. Queuing for a place can last half the day' (see S. Russell, Jonathan Kenworthy: sculpture and works on paper, London, 2007, chapter 8).
