Lot Essay

Philip Jackson comments, 'In my figurative sculptures I endeavour to catch the quiet and subtle movements of the body in order to suggest the thoughts and intentions of the figure. My sculpture often looks back to a previous age and I endeavour to imbue it with a feeling of mystery and elegance but at the same time rendering it in a contemporary manner. I like there to be an element of theatricality about my work' (Private correspondance with Philip Jackson, 2011).
