The composition of the present lot relates to two of Landseer's most well-known works, The Stag at Bay (c. 1846, oil on canvas, 183 x 274.3, Dublin Castle, on loan from the Guinness family) and The Monarch of the Glen (c. 1851, oil on canvas, 163.8 x 168.9, The National Museum of Scotland).
