A bronze figure of Sambandar
South India, late Chola period, 13th/14th century
Standing on a lotus base over a waisted plinth with his right leg raised in dance, his arms spread out to either side and pointing with the index finger of his right hand, wearing a festooned belt, necklace, and armlets, the smiling face with elongated eyes flanked by foliate earrings, the hair in curls piled into a jatamukuta and backed by a shiraschakra
