We sat beside the River Wyre
signed and with a fly 'HELEN BRADLEY' (lower right), signed again, inscribed and dated 'We sat besides the river Wyre/waiting for Grandpa who always/talked to the Farmer. We didn't/like walking through the fields because/Mother and the Aunts, also Miss Carter/(who wore Pink) didn't like cows./Mr Taylor (the Bank Manager) came/with us and said that we need not/be afraid - he would look after us./But we loved the river and the lovely/Summer evenings and the drive back/in the wagonette with Poinee [sic] clip-/clopping back to Grandpa's, and the/year was 1907./Helen Layfield Bradley 1972' (on a label attached to the backboard)
