Mustafa Horasan depicts the blank faces of Emo characters in his new series. Those numb portraits cannot be identified at first sight whether they are male or female. For the artist they are beyond-human; they look like they are not from this world with their expressionless faces and unusual style. In his Emo Series Horasan deals with the many sides of human existence like in his previous works.
With the use of rich and vivid palette tones, particularly highlighted in the subject's bulbous red lips and crimson eye, Untitled offers an in-depth analysis of the intricacy of the human body and its capacity and threshold to withstand and withhold pain. The subject's evocative eyes pierce through the canvas, drawing the viewer into sense of darkness which deeply haunts, yet intrigues us. As the Emo series implies, Untitled subtly but powerfully manages to capture the intricacies of the human emotions and reactions.
