With a printed cumulative index leaf, this mounted on the front free endpaper of vol. 1. Engraved allegorical title, index of maps in each volume, and 136 double-page and folding engraved maps, hand-coloured in outline, after d'Anville, Janvier, Bellin, Robert de Vaugondy, Rizzi-Zannoni and others. (Dampstain in the first and last few leaves of both volumes, loss in the last three maps of vol. 2 near the bottom edge, a few maps in vol. 2 creased or with tears near the gutter or folds, spotting affecting some maps but otherwise occasional and mostly marginal.) Contemporary Italian half vellum, red morocco spine labels (worn, some staining on the sides, lower side of vol. 2 with loss near the bottom edge). Provenance: sold at an unidentified Italian auction, October 1982, lot 146 (ticket laid-in).
