Fifth edition. This undated later edition has the chapter on the history of golf balls, included for the first time in the fourth edition of 1890. In the sixth edition of 1897 the title was changed to The Golfer's Manual. Hopkinson p. 31; Murdoch 260: 'the first golf book to meet with success at the sale's counter'
