Lot Essay

The design for this costume, Maria Kuznetsova's role in L'adoration, appeared on the cover of the programme printed for this production (see Alexander Schouvaloff, Léon Bakst: The Theatre Art, London, 1991, illustrated p. 218). L'adoration was one of two programmes performed at the Théâtre Fémina in Paris on 9 April 1922.
