A FINE RARE INCISED YELLOW-GLAZED 'DRAGON' BOWL
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE-CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
With deep rounded sides, the interior is finely incised at the centre with a full-face dragon amongst clouds. The exterior is surrounded with four roundels of dragons chasing a 'flaming pearl' divided by stylised clouds, above a band of lotus petals near the base. It is covered overall with a bright yellow glaze.
5 in. (12.5 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

Bowls decorated in this way with incised decoration beneath a yellow glaze appear to be very rare. A slightly larger example was sold at Christie's London, 15 May 2009, lot 192.
