Lot Essay

Robert and Nicolas Descharnes have confirmed the authenticity of this work.

According to Robert Descharnes, this is an illustration for Dante's Divine Comedy, relating to Canto 20 from the Inferno which describes how sinners guilty of sorcerery and divination are punished, their necks twisted to prevent them from looking into the future.
