Artist's… Read more Christie's is pleased to offer this rare group of drawings by Fritz Schwimbeck (1889-1972), from the distinguished collection of art historian, poet, writer and curator Arturo Schwarz. Schwimbeck was a Munich artist best known for his atmospheric illustrations for books including editions of Shakespeare, Strindberg and Meyerink. He also illustrated a number of Malerbücher or Livres d'artiste in the inter-war period. Examples of his work can be found in the Lindenau-Museum, Altenburg.
