The inscriptions read:
Uguisu ni nariga nitatote misosazai
The wren--so similar in shape to the bush warbler.

Tanoshimi wa ushironi hashira maeni sake kiniouta kyaku suribachi no oto
What pleasure to lean against a pillar, enjoying sake with congenial guests and the sound of a mortar.
