Lot Essay

The Iranian artist Golnaz Fathi, initially trained as a calligrapher, combines in her works elements of graphic design and painting with references to her own personal story. She creates an imaginary minimal landscape on which she delicately adds strikingly modern calligraphy. The words are indecipherable and they express through abstract means what words cannot.
