Lot Essay

Previously attributed to Sir Anthony van Dyck (Antwerp 1599-1641 London), this painting is now recognised as a work by his fellow countryman, Justus Sustermans, court painter to the Medici and foremost portrait painter in Italy in the mid-17th century.
