Lot Essay

Certificate: Fred Oster, Philadelphia, May 18, 1999, with photographs attached.
Dendrochronology: John Topham, Redhill, UK, February 15, 2012. The tree-ring analysis report dates the youngest growth rings on the bass and treble sides of the top to the year 1660. The wood significantly cross matched three other violins attributed to Jacob Stainer that suggest the tops were fabricated from the same tree.
