MARINETTI, Filippo Tommaso (1876-1944). 8 anime in una bomba. Romanzo esplosivo. Milan: Poesia, 1919. 8° (210 x 150mm). (Margins lightly browned and a few of these with light wear, inscription leaf slightly short in the fore-margin.) Original front wrapper bound into full burgundy calf, unsigned but by Cambras, lettered in yellow and blind, and the upper side with a black morocco and an orange morocco onlay (front wrapper with some wear and spotting, spine of binding lightly faded). Provenance: Flippo Tommaso Marinetti (presentation inscription to:) -- Guillermo de Torre (author, Futurist; ownership signatures dated 1919).
FIRST EDITION. A SUPERB ASSOCIATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY MARINETTI TO GUILLERMO DE TORRE, in Italian: 'For Guillermo de Torre. With Futurist sympathy. F. T. Marinetti'. The book shows light marginalia, perhaps in another hand, suggesting its use for a translation. De Torre's translation of part of this book ('The Four Stories of a Baths Establishment') appeared in the July 1920 issue of Grecia, with an introduction in which De Torre applauds Marinetti's resistance to what he sees as regressive tendencies in French Cubism. The front wrapper bears a printed statement, perhaps fictive, that this copy is from the fourth thousand.
