Lots 1193-1196 From the Family of Wang Yiting This collection of four paintings comes from the family collection of Wang Yiting. In the forward to "Wang Yiting's Paintings and Calligraphy", Zhang Daqian described him as a man of great virtue, and a daring artist who created great works. Wang Yiting was also a great connoisseur of the arts and was an avid collector of Chinese paintings. These paintings have been passed down through the family.

Lot Essay

According to Wang Zhen's great-grandson, Wang Xiaofang, portraits of Ji Gong were rare in Wang Zhen's oeuvre, and he was known to have only painted three paintings with Ji Gong as a subject matter - one painting now housed at the Palace Museum, Beijing, another went missing, and the last is this present piece.
