Designed on the writing surface with plovers, waves, rocks and a small islands with an outcropping of pines in gold takamaki-e with embellishments of uchikomi, hollows of gold laquer, kirikane and nashiji on a roiro ground, the rolling waves rendered in togidashi, the bracket feet roiro and nashiji and mounted with silver corner and side mounts cast with scrolling foliage, the underside nashiji

With box inscribed kogoheika yori Sanenomiya denka gohairyo (given by the Empress to her Highness Sanenomiya)
