Lot Essay

Jacques-Louis David, French (1748-1825). The full- length portrait of Madame Récamier (1800) is conserved at the Musée du Louvre, Paris.

Madame Jeanne-Francoise Julie Adélade Récamier, known as Juliette, was at the forefront of early 19th century French society, and her Paris salon brought together members of the leading literary and political circles of the day.
