Lot Essay

Cast after the antique, this jardiniere is copied from the Roman prototype found at Pompeii which is today in the Museo Nazionale in Naples (L. Pirzio Biroli Stefanelli, Il Bronzo dei Romani, Rome, 1990, p. 155, fig. 110).
