Lot Essay

The present watch is a very fine example of the celebrated reference 6263 "Cosmograph" model and stands out by its beautiful, unpolished and well-preserved original condition.

Reference 6263 was introduced into the market in the early 1970s and was available in stainless steel, 14K and 18K gold. The model was fitted with the " Oyster" or "screw down" chronograph buttons and a bezel with black plastic insert, the tachymetre scale printed in white. Models in 14K gold were exclusively reserved for the North American market.

Reference 6263 was introduced into the market in 1971. Different versions of the model are described and illustrated in I Cronografi Rolex - La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore, pp. 328 - 335.
