The hemispherical bowl on a raised circular foot, the body repoussé and chased with scrolling foliage on a stippled ground, the rim engraved with an inscription in old Russian, the interior centring a gilt medallion decorated with a griffin, the pierced handle chased and engraved with stylised scrolling foliage, apparently unmarked
