8° (222 x 147mm). (Edges lightly browned, one short marginal tear repaired.) Contemporary blue cloth over marbled boards by Welzen of Leiden with ticket, spine ruled and lettered in gilt (neatly rebacked preserving the original spine, small repairs to rear endpaper). Provenance: Cor Kars (bookplate, pencilled marginalia) -- early bookseller's description on front pastedown.

FIRST EDITION OF 'UNQUESTIONABLY FREUD'S GREATEST SINGLE WORK' (PMM). 'It contains all the basic components of psychoanalytic theory and practice: the erotic nature of dreams, the "oedipus complex", the libido, and the rest; all related to the ... sub-conscious' (PMM).
