Lot Essay

The design, by the London makers William Smee and Sons, is illustrated in E. Joy (Ed.), Pictorial Dictionary of British 19th Century Furniture Design, London, 1977, p. 265. A similar model was sold in these Rooms, 26 March 2013, lot 100.
