Le Clerc, two head-pieces, two ornamental initials, one tail-piece, 68 engraved plates including 53 full-page and 8 double-page, with numerous woodcut illustrations. (Occasional minor dust soiling, very slight toning to the paper.) Contemporary vellum gilt, morocco label to spine, red speckled edges (upper joint split but firm, boards slightly bowed, some light soiling).
Second edition of the full text of Perrault's translation and commentary on Vitruvius, the only architectural treatise to have survived from antiquity. This work, dedicated to Louis XIV, is considered one of the scholarly editions of Vitruvius. Fowler 418; RIBA 2497.
