Lot Essay

A similar pair of vases in the Pilaster Room at Pavlovsk is illustrated A. Kuchumov, Pavlovsk Palace and Park, St. Petersburg, 1975, no. 201. Another pair now in the Hermitage Museum was supplied to Emperor Paul I by the dealer Guillaume Culot.
