Lot Essay

These impressive torchères were in the collection of C. Ruxton and Audrey B. Love, where they stood at a landing of the staircase in their triplex at 655 Park Avenue. The Loves amassed a spectacular collection of objects across a number of categories including English Furniture, Chinese Works of Art, Antiquities and American Pictures, which was sold Christie's, New York in October 2004.
