Lot Essay

Described in the sale records as 'zone bleu et fleurs Chines.', the decoration on the present pair of coolers is associated with that found on the service purchased by the comte de Montmorin de Saint'Hérem, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on May 24, 1787.

Madame Françoise-Philippine Descoins (née Le Grand) is recorded as a painter of flowers, feather edges and patterns at the factory from probably 1780-1799.
