Lot Essay

The design of the present lot is typical of Tehran weaving, however, an alternative attribution of Veramin has been suggested, which is possible due to the proximity of the town, thirty miles southeast of Tehran. A very similar rug, woven on silk warps, is illustrated in Eberhart Herrmann, Seltene Orientteppiche IV, Munich, 1982, no.61, p.182.
