I with segment torn from outer margin and clean tear into text, a few other leaves with marginal segments torn away.) Contemporary marbled calf, covers with gilt letter 'B' surmounted by coronet and enclosed by foliate border, red and green morocco spine labels (rubbed, spines chipped at head).
FIRST EDITION, followed by a Dublin edition the next year. After the death of her husband (c. 1790) left her with the need to provide for her children, the perennial Eliza Parsons wrote nineteen multi-volume popular novels, mostly in the Gothic tradition.
