From a relief, depicted nearly in the round, turned to his right, his oval face with heavy-lidded elongated eyes beneath arching brows, prominent cheekbones, and full lips below the downturned mustache, his thick beard projecting forward, his wavy locks bound in a diadem

Provenance
Purportedly found in Athens by Dr. Josef von Kopf (1827-1903), a famous sculptor living in Rome, 1876.
with Dr. Ludwig Pollak, Rome.

Herbert N. Straus (1881-1933) former owner of R.H. Macy's department store, New York.
