TRANSLATION OF THE INSCRIPTION:
1. My brushwork can cut iron and my ink is like ice,
The cold having penetrated my beard, I am on another step of the Buddhist path.
Even though I cherish the little bit of hot in front of my eyes,
I will not follow it as it will not lead me to the right direction.
Xiaochengke.
2.Dungen Ji.
3.The lofty sky brings me ethereal longing,
The marvellous stones accompany me in the world.
I have no idea how old heaven and earth really are,
Only seeing the limitless blue firmament beyond mountains.
Dadizi Ji.
4. Kugua Laoren Ji.
5.The bronze vessel and jade box are like two fairies,
The crushed stones and clouds are the most piteous.
The snow and the moon evoke my feelings and dreams,
Reciting poems helps me to acquire crazy thoughts.
I have longed to visit Sandie Fall in Lu Mountains,
As well as the loft Heng Mountains.
If you wish to explore the famed mountains,
Please linger anywhere as long as you can.
Shidaoren Ji.
6.Although the ugly hills and trees were painted with ugly ink,
Surprisingly they mostly face good families.
Dadizi Ji.
7.Dadizi Ji.
8. Yesterday Zhang Heye came from Wumen to see my albums. He asked me to inscribe two poems:
With a cup in my hand, I opened the scroll and murmured,
Inside I saw natural wonders forged in ancient times.
The mountains were broken, the trees upturned,
Seeing them not in paintings would have been more saddening.
Night cold, lamp dimmed, cup empty,
I randomly saw the artist's concern in his painting.
Pity that all fish and shrimp had been caught,
But an old fisherman was still holding his rod.
