Lot Essay

Abbott's earliest known watercolours date from 1791, when he undertook a tour of Scotland and the Lake District, through Lancashire, Derbyshire and Warwickshire. There is another drawing of Corra Linn, from the same tour, numbered 47, in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
