Lot Essay

In 1858, on the death of his father, Brabazon inherited the family property at Oaklands, near Sedlescombe, Sussex. The house was planned by Decimus Burton (1800-1801) and the grounds by William Gilpin (1724-1804) and was to be Brabazon’s home until his death in 1906.
