Lot Essay

In 1934 Wolfe spent eighteen months in Mexico. Taylor writes, ‘He was fascinated by the dry desert heat… the stark desert landscape, with its exotic cacti and rough-hewn rock formations, and the picturesquely dressed and rather mysterious peasants.’ (J.R Taylor, op. cit., p. 47).
