With swamped octagonal sighted barrel marked ':N:35:A:' towards the breech and 'No.34' at the muzzle (over-tang rear-sight missing), flat bevelled lock signed 'ERTTEL A DRESDE(sic)' and engraved with a leopard in a landscape overlooked by a walled town, enclosed wheel with slightly raised cover chiselled in low relief with scrollwork against a matt ground, the spring-fence chiselled with a monster-mask, the cock chiselled with a retreiver holding a dead bird in its mouth (the upper part of the chiselled ornament incomplete), and sliding pan-cover, figured walnut full stock (cracked beneath lock) carved with flowering foliage, carved brass-mounted sliding patchbox-cover, the cheek-piece with large brass-inlaid wood grouse standing on a branch, brass mounts, mostly shaped and engraved with scrollwork, including ornate pistolgrip trigger-guard, double set triggers, the butt-plate fitted with a turned iron stud, and later brass-capped ramrod
