Helen Frankenthaler (1928-2011)
All sold and unsold lots marked with a filled squa… Read more Helen Frankenthaler (1928-2011) Born in New York in 1928, Frankenthaler was a guest of the Rossi family in Rome many years before their first collaboration would come to fruition. It was in fact at the New York studio where the artist began to fully engage with the possibilities 2RC had to offer. With the assistance of Eleonora Rossi, Frankenthaler began to explore the dynamism of colour within the aquatint process and the multitude of conditions that can alter the final appearance of the inks on the paper. This revelation is most intensely felt in Broome Street at Night, Frankenthaler’s interpretation of the view from the New York studio window.
