An Ho was born in Beijing. Her father was a newspaper editor, and her mother painted flowers, until both became involved in politics. Her father served as the Vice-Governor of Manchuria from 1949-1970. An Ho has exhibited her paintings widely in Asia, Europe, and the United States. In 1994 she became the first woman artist to have a solo exhibition at Taiwan's National Historical Museum, which broke attendance records.
