TURKEY, DATED AH 1155/1742-43 AD
Of circular form, the engraved decoration consisting of a central medallion with radiating foliated patterns surrounded by concentric circles of interlaced palmettes, geometric patterns and interlocked straps, the borders with stylised clasps, inscribed around the borders in cursory naskh script with Ottoman Turkish verses, probably wishes for good appetite, with owner's inscription and date, very good condition overall

Lot Essay

The later added inscription give the name of the owner of the tray, Al-Hajj Mustafa, set within a decorative tughra, and the date of AH 1155/1742-43 AD.
