DÜRER, Albrecht (1471-1528). Icones sacrae. In historiam Salutis humanae per Redemptorem nostrum Jesum Christum Dei et Mariae filium instauratae ... Nunc primum e tenebris in lucem editae. [Hamburg: G.L. Froben], 1604.
4° (185 x 135mm). Title within large woodcut border, 38 woodcut illustrations by Altdorfer, illustrating the Fall of Man and the Passion of Christ, all signed with his monogram, A within A, resembling Dürer's monogram; this probably causing the attribution to him by the publisher. (Title slightly shorter at upper margin, occasional light spotting.) Late 19th-century blue morocco gilt, gilt turn-ins and edges (top corners lightly rubbed). Provenance: [H. Yates Thompson] -- A. H. Bright (bookplate).
YATES THOMPSON - BRIGHT COPY OF THIS RARE SERIES. Only one copy is recorded at auction on ABPC/AE on-line (Phillips, 1994, sold for £1,100).
