Lot Essay

Born in Stockingford, Warwickshire, Mary Ireland was a fabric designer, stained glass artist, illuminator, and writer. Influenced by the Birmingham School – in particular by the work of Joseph Southall - , she received numerous religious commissions including one at Bruges Cathedral, Belgium.
