A SANCAI-GLAZED POTTERY FIGURE OF A STANDING LADY
TANG DYNASTY (AD 618-907)
The elegant figure is shown wearing a long pleated skirt with vertical stripes of amber, green, and straw separated by incised lines, which falls to the upturned tips of her shoes. A long shawl is wrapped around her back and over her arms, and her hands are concealed within the long sleeves of her blouse. A bird is perched on one hand peering up at her serene face, framed by her hair which is drawn up and divided into two soft loops.
