The head of the cow, seen in profile, is very similar to that in Cuyp's Landscape with cows and herdsmen in the Rijksmuseum (P.J.J. van Thiel, All the paintings of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Amsterdam, 1976, no. A 3754).
