Lot Essay

Claude Picasso has confirmed the authenticity of this work.

The text on the plate reads 'Je reclame le droit de faire comme si La guerre était un chien assis aux pieds parfaits de notre France'. This is a passage from Louis Aragon's poem Les yeux et la mémoire, published in 1954, the same year this plate was executed.
