Lot Essay

Yuan Kewen (1889-1931), who was also known as Baocen and Hanyun, was the second son of Yuan Shikai from Xiangcheng in Henan. He was proficient in calligraphy and painting and favored poetry and collecting antiques. He rarely participated in political activities and was dedicated to the research of ancient coins.
