A SMALL WHITE JADE WATER COUPE
LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The cup has deep, rounded sides and is borne on a flowering and budding leafy branch that forms an openwork handle at one end and continues onto the underside. The semi-translucent, white stone has an area of pale brown color in the handle.
4 ¾ in. (12 cm.) long
Provenance
Capt. George R. Overman (1910-1995) Collection, acquired in London in the 1940s, and thence by descent within the family.
