A BLUE AND WHITE COPPER-RED DECORATED VASE
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The high-shouldered, tapering body is decorated in rich, inky tones of underglaze blue with scenes of scholars and attendants in a mountainous river landscape. The trailing, vaporous clouds, robes of two of the figures, and the leaves of a tree are picked out in copper red that has fired to a greyish tone. The neck is decorated with three flower stems.
