Lot Essay

A garniture of seven vases with similar decoration in the Ernst Schneider Collection at Schloss Lustheim, including a central vase of the same form as that of the present lot, is illustrated by Julia Weber, Meissener Porzellane mit Dekoren nach ostasiatischen Vorbildern, Stiftung Ernst Schneider in Schloss Lustheim, Munich, 2012, Vol. II, p. 438, cat. no.456. A beaker vase painted in a similar hand with Kakiemon-style birds from a collection of 'Highly Important Early Continental Porcelain' was sold in these Rooms on 28 March 1977, lot 47, and a pair of vases, also similar in style, were anonymously by Sotheby's London on 27 March 1973, lot 39.
